Lab equipment policy
PCs and monitors provided by the lab must stay within the budget below and be returned upon graduation/departure for the reuse pool.
Eligibility & budget
| Role | Expected tenure | Budget (price ceiling) |
|---|---|---|
| Postdoc | ~2 years | 4,000,000 KRW |
| PhD | ~4 years | 4,000,000 KRW |
| Master's | ~2 years | 3,000,000 KRW |
| Staff | ~2 years | 3,000,000 KRW |
| Intern (Entering Master's) | ~0.5 year, then ~2 years MS | 3,000,000 KRW |
| Intern (Entering PhD) | ~0.5 year, then ~4 years PhD | 4,000,000 KRW |
| Intern | ~0.5 year | 0 KRW |
Interns get no equipment budget by default. Interns who have agreed to join a Master's or PhD programme afterwards get early access to that programme's budget so onboarding doesn't wait for the formal start date. Tübingen members and collaborators get no equipment budget by default. Per-member overrides are possible from the admin page.
How to purchase
- Items 500,000 KRW or more: Get approval from Joon before purchase. Main criterion: likely to be popular with future students in the reuse pool. Mac (MacBook, Mac mini, etc.) is usually OK without extra discussion.
- Items under 500,000 KRW (docks, mouse, keyboard, headphones, etc.): free choice, no return required.
Upon graduation / departure
Return all lab-issued PCs and monitors to the reuse pool.
Depreciation (residual value)
